First Day of Kindergarten!

Jacob started Kindergarten on Tuesday and was so excited he could hardly contain himself! He's was up at the crack of dawn ready to roll. Jacob has a 1st grader friend who showed him where the "Cool kids" sit, so they headed straight to the back of the bus. When it was time to pick him up at the bus stop after school I waited and waited, and then his bus came--but no Jacob! Yeah, I was worried! I headed back home and there was a message on the machine stating that Jacob's name wasn't on the list to be bussed and that he was with his teacher. So we headed to the school. He was waiting in the class room with a big smile on his face, not worried a bit. Turns out too that Jacob's kindergarten teacher was Chris's same teacher 27 years ago!

Bair Family Cabin

Every year we go with Chris's family to a cabin. We came directly from Colorado so we were excited for some down time at the cabin. This year we rented for 6 days in the mountains east of Heber. We had so much fun with 12 grandchildren and 8 adults. And yes, we hiked up Mt. Timpanogos with our little ones! The two older ones were troopers up and down often running at times, while we brought up the rear with the little ones. We missed you Elder Bair! We'll see you next year though.

We all wished we had it as good as Logan after the hike.

Walker Family Reunion

Walker Mowers in Ft. Collins, Co. manufactured their 100,000th mower and this was cause for a great celebration! Everyone involved with Walker, whether you are a distributor, dealer, end user, or family member, was invited to the great family reunion. Chris's company flew everyone out to the big celebration. We drove though because we live closer. They had booths, mower racing, go carts, kids crafts and activities, hot air balloon rides, food, prizes, fireworks, music and a concert with Pam Tillis and Aaoron Tippin! It was a great fun for all of us and what a great experience to see what success our Daddy is apart of!

Seaside, Oregon Family Vacation July 08

We went on our first family vacation to Seaside, Oregon and loved it! We rented a beach house with another family who has been our best friends for almost 7 years now. It took us 2 days to get to Seaside, we spent 6 days at the beach house and another 2 days to get home. When you travel with small children everything takes a long time to get to! There was the ever present "Are we there yet?" Now I know how my parents felt! I'm grateful for the memories I have of going to the beach in my childhood, now it's time to create those same memories for our children.

Our rig inside and out

I've got to help them kick their habit!

So this is Stonehenge that overlooks the Columbia River. It is a peace memorial erected to memorialize the 13 soldiers who died in WWI from this area. Sam Hill is also buried here. I'm still trying to figure out who in the "Sam Hill" he is!

Mount Hood, a dead volcano, in the background

This is where the promenade begins along the beach. We actually walked here from our beach house.

Beach Combers

On 2 of the mornings we woke up early to pick up sand dollars and seashells at low tide. This was my favorite thing to do!

Fun on the Beach!

The weather the entire trip was overcast, the temperature reached no higher than 71 degrees, and the wind was persistent, but that didn't stop us from having fun!

Sidney's face says it all...FRIGID!

Logan's 1st real experience with sand

Cannon Beach (The Goonies rock)

Cannon beach is where Goonies was filmed, it is also where the tide pools are exposed at lowtide to reveal protected sea life. Lowtide was at 7:30 am, yes, we were actually up before 9am on vacation! It was all worth it. The beauty is beyond what our pictures could capture. My favorite was the morning sea mist.

Surfer Dudes and Dudette!
So Chris decided to take Jacob boogie boarding in the Ocean! The water was 50 degrees so it was recommended to get full body gear. That day was especially cold so the kids and I came later to the beach and by that time Jacob was spent so I didn't get any pictures of him in the water. But from what Chris says, he was a surfin machine! I'm so proud of my brave surfer boys!
